ISO 14001 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
A practical introductionA Short Course for Business
This one day* course provides a practical introduction to the international standard for environmental management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (* or two days to include field visits / in-house workshops). The course is designed for any manufacturing or service industry or other organisation wishing to improve environmental performance and, through better resource management, enhance business efficiency.
The course develops both the environmental and management themes in order to link the management aspects with the real environment. This is achieved through a consideration of both the principal environmental media at risk (water, air, soil and the biological environment) and the management structures needed to ensure their protection. The impacts of business and approaches to monitoring will be included in a practical overview of environmental protection priorities. The course concepts are illustrated with case studies and examples of environmental management issues affecting different environmental media. The workshop approach adopted allows participants to discuss with colleagues their own environmental management concerns.
